Aberporth beach is located in Ceredigion, 10 miles south of New Quay. This resort lies at the end of Cardigan Bay on the west Wales coast.
The quaint village of Aberporth overlooks two safe sandy beaches. Aberporth is one of Ceredigion's favourite holiday resorts and very popular with tourists. Besides the picturesque surroundings, families can enjoy the golden sands, explore the rock pools that become exposed at low tide, enjoy cliff top walks for stunning views of the Ceredigion coast. Bottlenose dolphins are frequently observed close to the shore. In 2006 orcas and harbour porpoises have also been seen, but such sightings are rare, even rarer was a turtle seen in 2005.
Aberporth beaches are part of the Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast.
Aberporth has been awarded Blue Flag status and swimming is considered safe here, and for added peace of mind there is a Lifeguard Service during the summer holiday period.
Facilities include accommodation, and Car Parking near the south side of the beach, toilets, shops, and plenty of hot and cold
refreshments all within easy reach of the beach. .... picture: The Flying Dolphin in the centre of Aberporth.
Dogs are not permitted on most beaches in Ceredigion from May until the end of September.
During the holiday season boat trips are available from this coastal area, including dolphin surveys!
